Course Details

Over the course of 5 weeks we are going to dive deeply into our bodies, learning about it’s energetic network and our emotional wellbeing. We will explore powerful emotions through the practise of yin yoga and meditation.

Each week we will work through a different emotion and set of yin poses, allowing ourselves to feel, surrender and let go. As we breathe into our emotional response, as deep rooted emotional patterns surface, we will experience release followed by peace and harmony.

We will start each week with a nourishing meditation to help you arrive, relax and tune into what you need from the session. We will gradually move into a slow, Yin practise where you will hold prop-supported poses between 2-10 minutes at a time.

As you remain still in a yin pose, you will be encouraged to observe what comes up energetically and emotionally without any need to judge, expand or identify with. By just sitting and observing the physical sensations, you will allow your system to work through the emotional and energetic blockages, providing a much needed release.

What is Yin Yoga?

Yin Yoga connects mind, body and soul and facilitates the flow of chi (energy). It helps to stimulate different meridians (energy channels) that run through the body. When energy can’t flow along these channels properly we can feel disconnected, stuck and unhappy.

Yin Yoga is a calm, still and slow-paced style of yoga. It provides moderate stress to the body by working deeply into the connective tissue which surrounds your muscles, bones, joints and organs.

Yin Yoga helps to bring the mind and body into a state of equilibrium.

Each week we will be focusing on a different set of emotions, poses and meridian channels to help stimulate the flow of chi in the body.

Week 1

Kidneys & Urinary Bladder - Fear & Wisdom

In our first week we will be focusing on the kidneys and urinary bladder meridians. When the channels are imbalanced we can feel confusion, lack of trust, fearful of change and the inability to cope with life and its challenges. We may struggle with sleep, motivation and drive, find it difficult to complete tasks and follow through on plans.

Each pose will be carefully selected to help stimulate the flow of energy along these channels, and release any unwanted energy that no longer serves us.

When the chi is balanced along the kidneys and urinary bladder meridians we create space and openness, growth, ambition and inner wisdom.

Week 2

Liver & Gallbladder - Anger & Compassion

In our second week we will be focusing on the gallbladder and liver meridians. When the channels are imbalanced we may struggle with chronic anger, irritation, moodiness and defensiveness. We may feel unable to express negative emotions, struggle to follow our own path in life and find it difficult to change and adapt as life unfolds.

Each pose will be carefully selected to help stimulate the flow of energy along these channels, and release any unwanted energy that no longer serves us.

When the chi is balanced along the liver and gallbladder meridians we create a feeling of harmony, inner peace and equanimity.

Week 3

Stomach & Spleen - Anxiety & Equanimity

In our third week we will be focusing on the stomach and spleen meridians. When the channels are imbalanced we can struggle with anxiety, worry and feeling off centred. We may feel lethargic and weak, and struggle with irregular sleep patterns and overthinking. We may feel disconnected with ourselves and the world we live in.

Each pose will be carefully selected to help stimulate the flow of energy along these channels, and release any unwanted energy that no longer serves us.

When the chi is balanced along the stomach and spleen meridians we have more power to say no, able to nourish our mind and body, and feel at home in ourselves.

Week 4

Lungs & Large Intestine - Grief & Courage

In our fourth week we will be focusing on the lungs and the large intestine meridians. When the channels are imbalanced we may feel sadness, grief, muddled, foggy and disconnected. We find it hard to live in the present moment and feel unable to encounter and express difficulty. We may also struggle with allergies, problems with our respiratory system, nose and throat, as well as our skin which is referred to as ‘our third lung’.

Each pose will be carefully selected to help stimulate the flow of energy along these channels, and release any unwanted energy that no longer serves us. 🌟

When the chi is balanced along the lungs and large intestine meridians we have the ability to experience life in the present, appreciating its many precious moments.

Week 5

Heart & Small Intestine - Depression & Love

In our final week we will be focusing on the heart and small intestine meridians. When the channels are imbalanced, we may feel unable to love, be loved, feel sadness, depression and hatred. We may experience poor circulation, hot flashes, digestion problems and heart complications. We may find it difficult to connect with our circumstances and others.

Each pose will be carefully selected to help stimulate the flow of energy along these channels, and release any unwanted energy that no longer serves us.

When the chi is balanced along the heart and small intestine meridians we feel warmth, nourishment, energetic and can build healthy relationships. We are able to flow with life as it shifts and changes, and fill it with joy and contentment.
